Don’t judge me, but… I can’t really remember what happened at the 2018 Academy Awards. I had to stay awake until 5AM, high on nothing but Red Bull and sorrow.

I do remember that Frances McDormand made a very moving, touching acceptance speech (and also fuelled my nightmares with her laugh). I also remember Jordan Peele making history; and not just because he played both Meegan and won an Oscar.

But the most iconic part of the evening had to be Kumail Najiana and Lupita Nyong’o presenting the Academy Award for Best Production Design. I know, I know – usually, no-one remembers that award; not even the winners, but this time was different.

The pair’s speech was hilarious, and had many fans begging for the duo to collaborate on a movie together. Now, usually, celebrities are inundated with notifications on Twitter, so they don’t have time to respond to them all. At least that’s what I tell myself every time I write to Selena Gomez, asking her to marry me.

However, this time, Kumail announced that he’d be pretty keen to work with the 12 Years A Slave Oscar-winner, writing “Of course. She’s awesome. I would love to. Ok now somebody reading this make that happen. Go!”

Fans started drafting their own plots as to what could happen in the untitled Nanjiani-Nyong’o picture, but it’s obviously just pipe-dreams. No-one in Hollywood could make this happen, surely. Unless, I s’ppose, Jane Lynch and Emmy Rossum got involved.

WHAT A COINCIDENCE. They did. The Glee star pitched her idea(s) for a character, asking if she could play “the boss or the professor or the hospital administrator or the homicide detective or the nosey neighbor?”, while actress-director, Emmy, also showed interest.

Just. Imagine. This. Lupita Nyong’o of Black Panther and Kumail Nanjiani of The Big Sick… Together. (As long as we don’t pen them as Lupita Nyong’o of Non-Stop and Kumail Nanjiani of Fist Fight, because the thought of that sends shivers down my spine.)
