Jack Griffo is back in the Thundermans universe, but this time, he’s swapping superpowers for sketchbooks! In a hilarious art challenge, Jack took on the task of redrawing The Thundermans in the style of some of Nickelodeon’s most iconic animated shows—including SpongeBob SquarePants and The Fairly OddParents. And let’s just say… one of those drawings looked like it belonged in Bikini Bottom for all the wrong reasons.

When given the challenge to reimagine The Thundermans in the style of SpongeBob SquarePants, Jack gave it his best shot. And while he’s a talented actor, let’s just say he probably won’t be getting a call from Nickelodeon’s animation department anytime soon. His attempt at a SpongeBob-ified Thundermans was a unique take—one that might have left Max Thunderman questioning his own identity.

Meanwhile, I joined in on the challenge, sketching Max, Phoebe, and Dr. Colosso in the unmistakable style of The Fairly OddParents. And while my drawings at least resembled the characters, let’s be honest—Butch Hartman’s job is safe.

Jack, who first played Max Thunderman in The Thundermans from 2013 to 2018, is stepping back into the role for The Thundermans: Undercover, an all-new follow-up series. The TV show brings back the beloved super-siblings for another adventure, and for Jack, returning to Max after all these years was both exciting and nerve-wracking.

But what does he see in Max’s future beyond Undercover? Jack shared that he’d love to see Max have another brief stint as a supervillain. “I think it would be cool to have Max go back to being a supervillain just for a second—not permanently—like maybe be swayed by some supervillain or something like that.” He also imagined a future where Max settles down and has a family of his own, reflecting on how much time has passed since the original show ended. “It’s crazy that it’s been that long… I’m going to be 30, and I’m thinking about starting my own family.”

If Jack could team up with any actor in Hollywood, his current dream co-star would be none other than Timothée Chalamet. “It used to be [Leonardo DiCaprio], and the past few years just seeing [Timothée’s] work and his career develop… he’s just so inspiring, he’s so talented, and I love his work.” Jack also revealed that he’s rooting for Chalamet to win the Oscar for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

Of course, this wasn’t my first time catching up with The Thundermans cast. Recently, I interviewed Kira Kosarin, who plays Phoebe Thunderman, and we spent our time together playing with adorable rabbits. Because what better way to talk about The Thundermans: Undercover than while cuddling bunnies? Between reminiscing about the original series and discussing the new series, it was clear just how much love the cast still has for the show and their characters.

Jack’s art challenge may not have been a masterpiece, but it was definitely a hilarious ride. And with The Thundermans: Undercover bringing the super-family back to our screens, fans have a lot to look forward to. Just maybe don’t expect a Jack Griffo-drawn animated spin-off anytime soon.
