When I sat down with Niall Horan for LADbible’s Snack Awards, I expected strong opinions. I expected debates. I expected at least one controversial food take…
What I didn’t expect was for him to immediately bring back the iconic childlike voice from the Haribo Tangfastics adverts.
Snack Awards is LADbible’s celebration of the foods celebrities genuinely love most. Guests nominate winners across a range of categories, from their favourite sweets and comfort foods to the greatest potato dish ever created, before putting those choices to the test.
And when Tangfastics won Niall’s award for Best Pick ‘n’ Mix Sweet, I couldn’t resist asking him to answer my questions using the famous voice from the adverts. As soon as the sweets hit the table, Niall slipped into the voice and declared, “I love Tangfastics,” which led me to immediately admitting, “I need to call my therapist.”
He Somehow Passed The Ultimate Tangfastics Test
The bigger surprise was discovering just how seriously Niall takes his sweets.
While he admitted he’s not somebody who enjoys extremely sour sweets, he revealed Tangfastics sit right on the edge of his comfort zone. “That’s as sour as I go,” he explained.

Which, naturally, that led to me setting him a challenge. With his eyes closed, Niall had to identify a Tangfastic simply by eating it. Amazingly, he not only identified the correct shape, but correctly guessed the colour as well.
Pasta, Potatoes And A Very Strong Egg Agenda
Tangfastics weren’t the only thing Niall felt passionate about.
Earlier in the interview, he crowned Amatriciana as the greatest pasta dish of all time, leading to one of the strangest segments I’ve ever filmed. After complimenting his pronunciation, I handed him a series of increasingly impossible Italian words and watched him attempt to become Italy’s newest national treasure.
The dream ended fairly quickly when his Italian manager, Marco, stepped in and demonstrated how the words are actually supposed to be pronounced.
Potatoes proved equally divisive. Niall awarded roast potatoes the title of greatest potato format ever invented and then bravely ranked chips, mash, baked potatoes, crisps and curly fries in a blind ranking challenge that will almost certainly start arguments online.

His most passionate defence, though, was reserved for hard-boiled eggs. Not only did he declare them criminally underrated, but he revealed he now follows a ChatGPT-generated method for creating the perfect egg.
As somebody who has interviewed Oscar winners, Marvel stars and Hollywood legends, I wasn’t expecting to spend several minutes discussing the ideal resting time for a boiled egg… Yet here we are.
The Weird Food Combination He Swears By
Perhaps the most surprising winner of the entire day was Niall’s choice for Weirdest Food Combination.
His champion was a Bloody Mary with a slice of bacon in it.
According to Niall, the smoky flavour completely transforms the drink. He first discovered the combination in a restaurant and has been recreating it ever since.
When I presented him with several other questionable food pairings, including fries dipped in milkshakes and peanut butter burgers, he remained sceptical.
Dua Lipa’s infamous Diet Coke mixed with pickle juice and jalapeño juice, however, almost won him over… Particularly once vodka entered the conversation.

Niall Horan’s New Album Dinner Party
Beyond the food debates, the appearance comes at an exciting time for Niall.
The singer is preparing to release his upcoming album Dinner Party, which marks the latest chapter in an already hugely successful solo career.
Since launching as a solo artist following the end of One Direction, Niall has established himself as one of the group’s most consistent hitmakers, earning critical acclaim for his songwriting alongside millions of album sales worldwide.
Given Niall’s natural charm and ability to make even a conversation about boiled eggs entertaining, there’s every reason to believe the album will continue that trend.
And yes, hearing that Tangfastics voice in person was every bit as funny as you’d imagine.
