James Gunn has been busy reshaping the DC Universe, and fans are eagerly piecing together the cryptic teases he drops along the way. One recent post sent The Suicide Squad fans into a frenzy when Gunn shared a photo of Peter Capaldi’s villainous Thinker, saying, “I can’t wait to tell you all the big plans we currently have in play.” Naturally, I had to press the Doctor Who legend himself about a potential return—possibly even his own spin-off, à la Peacemaker.

Capaldi’s response? Suspiciously coy. “I don’t know. That’s up to James to divulge that. It’s not my place,” he chuckled. A nervous laugh? A clever deflection? Or is he under strict DC secrecy? Either way, fans are now side-eyeing that Thinker tease harder than ever.

Capaldi’s Thinker may have been a slippery, morally dubious scientist in The Suicide Squad, but that doesn’t mean his story is over—especially in the wacky, anything-goes world of James Gunn. After all, we’ve seen Peacemaker rise from the grave (and his own terrible choices) to headline a hit HBO spin-off starring John Cena.

Peacemaker became a surprise sensation, blending Gunn’s signature humor with heart, violence, and some of the most ridiculous dance sequences in superhero history. If Christopher Smith can go from a Suicide Squad side character to a leading man, why not Capaldi’s genius-but-creepy metahuman?

Gunn is known for bringing back fan-favorite characters in unexpected ways—just look at The Suicide Squad’s deep cuts. While The Thinker’s fate in the film wasn’t exactly hopeful (thanks to Starro’s, uh… aggressive tendencies), the multiverse, flashbacks, or even a clone could easily fix that little problem.

So, is Peter Capaldi hiding something? Or was his shifty answer just a Scottish gentleman dodging a tough question? Either way, the DC Universe is unpredictable, and if The Thinker does make a comeback, you heard the first hints right here. Keep those minds open and those brain bulbs blinking!
