The year is 2019. We are getting a Pokémon movie starring Ryan Reynolds. Hollywood is currently producing a movie based on Sonic the Hedgehog with Jim Carrey.

What are they going to do next? A Tom and Jerry live-action movie starring a four-time Oscar-nominee?!

Wait. They are doing that? I said that as a joke. It was meant to be so farfetched, it was comical. I actually put that on my Good-Jokes of 2019 tally. (So far, I’m on three. Sigh.)

Daniel Richtman, of SuperBroMovies – annoyingly, a Daniel with a far more superior movie-based site – uploaded some concept art to Twitter, showing the titular cat and mouse looking very similar to their 1940s original design.

But the most shocking thing to come from this is that they’re stood next to Academy Award-winning Jennifer Lawrence. (How? How has a fucking cartoon mouse met her and I haven’t?)

This is, however, only concept art. As J-Law is depicted in the picture, it doesn’t necessarily mean she is attached to appear in the live-action Tom and Jerry movie. It just suggests that she is one of the actors the studio wants in the film.

What could possibly go wrong? It’s possibly starring one of the most acclaimed actresses of today, alongside two beloved childhood characters. It’s perfect. So who’s directing it?

Steven Spielberg? James Cameron? Christopher Nolan? Or is it that bloke, Tim Story, who did those awful Ride Along movies and Fantastic Four? It’s him, isn’t it?

Well… JENNIFER LAWRENCE. So that’s good, right?
