What do a platypus spy, a zombie hunter, and a teenage genius have in common? If Vincent Martella gets his way, Phineas and Ferb might just welcome The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus into the fold. On a brand new episode of The Movie Dweeb Podcast, Vincent sat down with me to chat about the show’s epic return, his dream guest stars, and his personal mission to bring Reedus into the wacky animated world.
And no, this wasn’t just a throwaway fan-casting. Vincent’s actually making moves to make it happen.
The Brazil Encounter That Sparked It All
Vincent revealed that his campaign to get Norman Reedus on Phineas and Ferb started at a massive event in Brazil. “I’m decently popular in Brazil for some of the live-action work I’ve done,” he said. “I was on a sitcom when I was a teenager, Everybody Hates Chris, and it’s still a very big sitcom there.”

While attending the event, where Norman Reedus was promoting Ballerina, a spin-off of the John Wick franchise, the two actors bumped into each other. It wasn’t their first time crossing paths; they had previously worked together on The Walking Dead. But this meeting took a surprisingly animated turn.
“We hung out for a while,” Vincent explained. “And he was saying he really wanted to get on Phineas and Ferb. He was like, ‘You know, my kid’s a big fan of the show. Can you get me on?’” Without skipping a beat, Vincent jumped at the idea: “I was like, if you mean that, I can call right now to try and get you on.”
From DMs to Voice Booths: Martella’s History of Celebrity Matchmaking
This isn’t the first time Vincent has tried to recruit big names to the Tri-State Area. While he didn’t slide into DMs the way I jokingly suggested with Paul Rudd, Vincent did help bring Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane onto the show years ago.
“I definitely campaigned for that,” he said. “But Dan [Povenmire, co-creator of Phineas and Ferb] knows him personally because he’s won Emmys for directing Family Guy. So, I don’t know how much pull I had in that one.”

Still, Vincent playfully took credit where credit might be due. “I could say it was me,” he laughed. “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I love Family Guy. I’d love to have him on one day.’ But Dan’s got his mobile number, so I don’t think I had much to do with it.”
Regardless of the logistics, it’s clear Vincent is passionate about bringing iconic voices to the show, even if the heavy lifting occasionally lands in Dan Povenmire’s much cooler lap.
Vincent couldn’t agree more: “He is very, very cool and very talented.”
The Reedus–Martella Reunion in the World of Animation?
If Norman Reedus does show up in the next season of Phineas and Ferb, it’ll mark an unexpected but exciting reunion for fans. The idea of Reedus, famous for playing gritty, brooding characters, stepping into the vibrant, tongue-in-cheek world of Phineas and friends is wildly fun.
Given their past collaboration on The Walking Dead, there’s already an on-screen chemistry between Reedus and Martella. Bringing that dynamic to animation could result in one of the show’s most memorable guest spots to date. And knowing Phineas and Ferb, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Reedus voicing a motorcycle-riding alien, a zombie-fighting camp counsellor, or some wild hybrid of the two.
It wouldn’t be the first time the show’s had major guest stars either…
The Return of Phineas and Ferb… And the Celebrity Guest Stars Already Lined Up
After more than a decade away, Phineas and Ferb returned this year with a brand-new fifth season; its first full season since the series ended in 2015. The revival was announced to thunderous excitement from fans, with co-creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh back at the helm and the original cast, including Vincent Martella, reprising their roles.
And the comeback hasn’t disappointed. This new season captures everything that made the original so beloved; its zany inventions, heartfelt family moments, and pitch-perfect musical numbers, while adding a few extra surprises along the way.

Among those surprises? A jaw-dropping list of celebrity cameos. This season alone features appearances from chart-topper Meghan Trainor, vocal powerhouse Michael Bublé, and legendary actor Alan Cumming. Each guest star has brought their own unique flair to the show, from belting out original songs to voicing eccentric new characters who slide seamlessly into the Phineas and Ferb universe.
It’s a testament to the show’s enduring appeal that stars from across entertainment still want to be part of the fun, and if Norman Reedus joins them soon, it’ll be one of the show’s wildest (and most talked-about) guest appearances yet.
Could Phineas and Ferb Be the Coolest Show on TV Again?
If it wasn’t already clear, Phineas and Ferb is back in full swing, and cooler than ever. With long-time stars like Vincent Martella leading the charge, and new celebrity names being added to the mix, the show is once again proving that no summer day is too wild, no invention too big, and no cameo too unexpected.
And while I’m not saying Norman Reedus will definitely appear this season… I am saying that Vincent Martella has his number. And that might be all we need.
