It’s the boldest move in Marvel fandom history… No, not WandaVision’s It Was Agatha All Along reveal. I’m talking about the moment I tried to bribe Hailee Steinfeld for spoilers with the most absurd legally binding offer imaginable: the naming rights to my firstborn child.
“I will legally name my firstborn child Beau Angel Margarita HS1 Track 7 Buffalo Bills Martini Steinfeld Merrifield,” I announced mid-interview, brandishing an actual printed contract in a last-ditch effort to get Hailee to spill something (anything!) about Kate Bishop’s potential return in Avengers: Doomsday.

Hailee, ever the composed queen of spoiler secrecy, calmly read through the contract (“I’m impressed,” she smiled, clearly amused. That was actually the first time someone’s ever said that in one of my interviews.) before regretfully denying the bribe. “As much as I would love for your firstborn to be named Beau Angel Margarita HS1 Track 7 Buffalo Bills Martini Steinfeld Merrifield… I’m gonna have to say that I can’t say anything.”
The Avengers secrets remain under lock and arrow.
Kate Bishop and the Return of the Bow
Hailee Steinfeld has firmly cemented herself as the Kate Bishop in the MCU since her star-making turn opposite Jeremy Renner in Hawkeye. Her wit, heart, and absurd accuracy with a bow made her an instant fan favorite, and left fans all begging for more.
That’s why the recent Avengers: Doomsday livestream sent the internet into overdrive. While Steinfeld’s name hasn’t been officially confirmed in the cast (yet) the star-studded lineup already includes Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Iman Vellani, and Chris Hemsworth. So naturally, I had to try my luck one more time. And by luck, I mean attempted contractual bribery.
Spoiler embargoes may be strict, but if Kate Bishop does show up, we can all agree Beau Angel Margarita Steinfeld Merrifield will have been a worthy sacrifice.
From Arrows to Atonement: Hailee Gets Bloody in Sinners
While dodging Marvel leaks like Neo dodges bullets, Hailee was happy to open up about her latest project, Sinners, a gritty thriller that’s worlds away from singing acapella or sniping baddies.
“When I saw your name attached to it I was like ‘Oh my god, yes,’” I told her during the interview. “I thought this was going to be like a cute little fun romp with my girl Hailee Steinfeld. It was not that. It was scary.”
I was wrong.
Directed by Creed and Black Panther filmmaker Ryan Coogler, Sinners stars Hailee as Mary, a young woman pulled into a brutal, bloody mystery. The film hits cinemas April 18, 2025, and also stars Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo.
“What was it about Mary that made you say, ‘I want that one’?” I asked.

“Oh, where to begin?” Hailee said. “First, Ryan Coogler… the whisperings around town were going around and I was ready to do whatever it took to be a part of it.” She added, “Daniel Kaluuya told me if you ever get the opportunity to work with him, don’t walk, run.”
But it wasn’t just the Coogler effect.
“The role of Mary was so special,” she explained. “It pushed me to understand my own family history a lot better… I don’t know that I’ve ever done that before.” She described it as “challenging but meaningful”, which is really just Hollywood speak for “I got covered in so much blood I’m surprised my skin isn’t stained red.”
Between protecting MCU secrets like a Marvel-trained ninja and diving headfirst into blood-soaked dramas, Hailee Steinfeld is proving there’s truly nothing she can’t do.
Even if she did rob the world of a child named Beau Angel Margarita HS1 Track 7 Buffalo Bills Martini Steinfeld Merrifield. Your loss, Hailee.
