Marvel fans, assemble! The Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement was nothing short of monumental, with a jaw-dropping 275 million views and 3.1 million social mentions. That’s right… I spent five and a half hours watching chairs, and honestly, I’m reconsidering my entire career choice. Maybe my office chair deserves its own spin-off.

But while Marvel Studios confirmed an epic 27 actors, including Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Ian McKellen (SQUEAL), and Robert Downey Jr., the livestream left me with more questions than answers. Where were some of the MCU’s biggest names?

Let’s break down the most glaring omissions from Avengers: Doomsday and why their absence has the internet buzzing.

1. Chris Evans

With Robert Downey Jr. back in action, fans were sure Chris Evans would follow suit. After all, if Tony Stark can make a comeback, why not Steve Rogers? Rumors even suggest Evans might return as Nomad, a title Steve adopted when he ditched the Captain America identity. But without confirmation, we’re stuck staring at our screens, wishing for one more glimpse of America’s ass.

2. Mark Ruffalo & Tatiana Maslany

No Smart-Hulk? No She-Hulk? Say it ain’t so! Despite Bruce Banner’s intergalactic adventures and Jennifer Walters’ legendary twerking with Megan Thee Stallion, neither Mark Ruffalo nor Tatiana Maslany were on those sacred chairs. Did Marvel just Hulk-smash my dreams?

3. Elizabeth Olsen

I frequently say her name three times, but Elizabeth Olsen didn’t appear from the Multiverse. Despite Scarlet Witch’s whole “I may or may not be dead” thing, I fully expected her name to pop up. With Doomsday featuring Doctor Doom, it’s practically illegal not to include Wanda Maximoff. Justice for Elizabeth Olsen! Light the beacons!

4. Benedict Cumberbatch

Doctor Strange has been one of the MCU’s MVPs, so where’s my multiverse-wielding wizard? Maybe he’s busy fixing incursions or growing a third eye. But Marvel, if you’re reading this, I’d like Benedict Cumberbatch back now, please.

5. Tom Holland

The biggest shock? No Tom Holland. Are we really expected to believe an Avengers movie can happen without Spider-Man? Tom might be tied up filming The Odyssey with Christopher Nolan or planning a wedding with Zendaya, but surely he could swing by for a cameo. Or, knowing him, accidentally spoil the entire movie.

6. The X-Men

Sure, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X rolled back into action (he’s died three times now… Iconic). But what about Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, or Halle Berry? Where’s Dafne Keen’s X-23? Marvel’s been hinting at a mutant takeover, so why hold back now?

7. Other Notable Absences

  • Jeremy Renner & Hailee Steinfeld
  • Scarlett Johansson
  • Tessa Thompson & Chris Pratt
  • Harry Styles

There’s Still Hope

Marvel hinted that more announcements are coming, so don’t lose faith just yet. Maybe Chris Evans is secretly getting buff in a Nomad suit. Maybe Benedict Cumberbatch is portal-hopping his way to set. Or maybe Tom Holland is sitting at home, scratching his name into a chair for his own dramatic reveal.

Until then, we wait. But hey, at least we’ll always have that chair livestream. Truly, the MCU’s most gripping performance to date.

God bless you, Kevin Feige.
