Jack Quaid may play a tough guy on screen, but even superheroes (or, in his case, superhero fighters) aren’t immune to a good old-fashioned movie set mishap. While promoting his latest film Novocaine alongside co-star Amber Midthunder, Quaid revealed the most painful moment of his career… And no, it wasn’t taking on Homelander in The Boys.
In an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Quaid shared the story of a freak accident that left him with a bruised rib. “I won’t say what project it was,” he teased, “but I had to run around a corner, hooking myself around a pillar. It was a very simple move, just running around a corner, and total freak accident; nobody’s fault. But one time, on the last shot, I grabbed onto the pillar, and it came off the wall. My momentum sent me into the dolly, and I bruised a rib.”
Despite the injury, Quaid pushed through to the finish line… Literally. “After that, they wrapped me out. I was done with the project, and everyone was clapping. I was like, ‘Thank you so much!’ but I couldn’t talk,” he laughed. “Ribs suck, man. You can’t put a cast on a rib, you just have to deal. That was rough.”

This isn’t the first time Quaid has weighed in on the hierarchy of pain. Prior to this, he hilariously declared that the worst minor pain a person can endure is stubbing their toe. “It’s just the worst,” he said. “You kind of can’t do anything else until you get through that bit of pain. Like, you stub your toe, and your soul leaves your body. Everything in my world needs to stop.”
Novocaine: Jack Quaid’s Latest Film
Quaid’s latest movie, Novocaine, sees him starring alongside Amber Midthunder (Prey). Directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, the film is a high-energy action thriller with a darkly comedic twist. The plot follows Nate, an everyman who turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get the girl of his dreams (Midthunder) back. With its razor-sharp script and electrifying performances, Novocaine promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Jack Quaid: From The Boys to the Big Screen
Jack Quaid has been making waves in Hollywood ever since his breakout role as Hughie Campbell in Amazon’s hit series The Boys. The show, which satirizes the superhero genre with its violent and twisted take on morality, has made Quaid a fan-favorite. His performance as Hughie, caught in a battle against corrupt superheroes has been praised for its blend of humor, vulnerability, and absolute chaos.

Beyond The Boys, Quaid has built an impressive resume, starring in films like Scream (2022) and Oppenheimer. His career trajectory has been nothing short of meteoric, proving he’s got both the talent and the comedic timing to take on anything… Even rogue pillars.
Aya Cash on Vought Rising: The Boys Spin-off
Quaid isn’t the only Boys alum who has sat down with The Movie Dweeb. Aya Cash, who played the delightfully evil Stormfront, previously teased the upcoming spin-off Vought Rising in another interview with the channel.
“I’ve read two scripts, and they are phenomenal,” Cash gushed. “And honestly, I would do whatever the f*** they told me to do, ’cause I think it’s so good, and I am so excited for it.”
With Vought Rising set to expand The Boys universe even further, and Quaid continuing to take on exciting new projects like Novocaine, it’s a great time to be a fan of this twisted superhero saga.
And as for Quaid’s latest injury? Let’s hope his next role involves fewer collapsing pillars and more pain-free stunts!
