Jack Lowden and Saoirse Ronan are officially Hollywood’s coolest newlyweds—mostly because they managed to tie the knot without anyone really noticing. When Jack sat down with The Movie Dweeb, we started things off with the biggest scandal of the year: neither of us attended each other’s weddings. Shocking, I know.
When I asked who partied the hardest—Jack or his Oscar-nominated other half—he revealed that their wedding wasn’t exactly a rager. “We didn’t really have [a party]. We just got married very simply. We didn’t really do that.” So, no wild dance-offs or questionable karaoke performances? Sad times. But hey, at least that means no embarrassing footage lurking in the depths of someone’s camera roll.

Jack Lowden: Future Bond Director?
Speaking of Saoirse, the conversation naturally drifted towards a potential new venture for the couple: Bond villainy. Saoirse has expressed interest in playing a James Bond baddie, and who better to direct her than her own husband?
Jack seemed totally on board—eventually. “I think she would make a fantastic Bond villain. She would be fantastic. I mean, I’d have to get that short film made first before I start doing that. I’d really need to, you know, cut my teeth a bit more.” But he didn’t stop there, gushing about working with Saoirse in any capacity. “She’s a dream to work with. She’s one of these actors that sort of gives you all the answers. And I think a lot of directors are pretty lucky to have actors like that, to be honest.” Sounds like someone’s already got his leading lady locked in for future projects.

The Outrun: A Passion Project
One major project Jack and Saoirse have already collaborated on is The Outrun, a film that Jack co-produced while Saoirse took on the leading role. Directed by Nora Fingscheidt (System Crasher), the film is based on Amy Liptrot’s memoir of the same name. It follows Rona (played by Ronan), a woman fresh out of rehab who returns to her childhood home in the Orkney Islands, where she confronts her past and attempts to rebuild her life amidst the wild landscapes of Scotland.
Jack and Saoirse’s creative partnership in The Outrun is a testament to their mutual respect and admiration—both as artists and as a couple. With Jack stepping into the producer’s role, it’s clear he’s just as invested in championing Saoirse’s talents behind the scenes as he is in front of the camera.
So, while a Bond movie might not be imminent, one thing is certain: Jack Lowden and Saoirse Ronan are a power couple to watch, whether they’re making indie dramas, secretly getting married, or plotting world domination via 007. And when Jack does finally get around to directing Saoirse in that Bond flick? You heard it here first.
