When you get the chance to interview Jeff Goldblum, you know you’re in for something delightfully unpredictable. But nothing could have prepared me for the moment he decided to celebrate my recent wedding by crooning The Carpenters at me and my wife.
While promoting KAOS, Netflix’s mythological dark comedy, Jeff joined me with his co-star Janet McTeer for a chat. As I casually mentioned that I had cut my honeymoon short to be there, Jeff, ever the showman, turned to us with a glint in his eye. “May I sing you a song?” he asked, before immediately launching into the opening lines of We’ve Only Just Begun. A serenade from Jeff Goldblum? I’d say that’s a fair trade for leaving paradise early.
Janet McTeer was quick to join in the fun, joking that she and Jeff had actually been married for much longer—over 2,000 years, to be exact—thanks to their roles as Zeus and Hera in KAOS. Jeff, never one to miss a comedic beat, smiled at his on-screen wife and declared, “It gets better and better every day.”
KAOS: Mythology Meets Madness on Netflix
In KAOS, Jeff Goldblum takes on the ultimate power role—Zeus, the king of the gods. But this isn’t your standard toga-clad deity. In Netflix’s bold and subversive take on Greek mythology, Zeus is an all-powerful, paranoid ruler whose reign is thrown into turmoil after he discovers a prophecy foretelling his downfall. McTeer, meanwhile, plays Hera, his cunning and long-suffering queen.
Created by The End of the F**ing World*’s Charlie Covell, KAOS reimagines ancient myths with a modern, satirical twist, blending dark humor, epic drama, and a touch of the absurd. And if Goldblum’s signature eccentricity is anything to go by, his version of Zeus is bound to be a god unlike any we’ve seen before.
Jeff Goldblum: The Man, The Myth, The Legend
Goldblum’s career has been as delightfully unpredictable as the man himself. From Jurassic Park’s smooth-talking Dr. Ian Malcolm to Thor: Ragnarok’s flamboyant Grandmaster, he’s built a legacy on charm, quirk, and an uncanny ability to make every line delivery feel like jazz. When he’s not ruling Olympus or dodging dinosaurs, he’s leading The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, proving that his musical talents extend well beyond impromptu Carpenters covers.
Whether he’s playing a god or simply acting like one in real life, Jeff Goldblum remains an icon of effortless cool. And as my KAOS interview proved, there’s never a dull moment when he’s in the room—even if it means your honeymoon turns into a full-blown musical.
