During the interview, Osment acknowledged the difficulties of Willis’ condition, expressing his admiration for how the actor’s family has handled the situation.
“I know his daughters a little bit, and I know he has an incredible family around him,” Osment said. “It’s a really tragic condition. I think they’ve all been really courageous in sharing that with the world.”
He continued, “That’s what gives me some comfort; I know he’s surrounded by a really wonderful group of people.”
Osment also paid tribute to Willis’ remarkable career, highlighting the enduring legacy of his films. “We are really lucky to have had decades and decades of his work on film, because to me, he’s always good. Bruce Willis is what I think of when I think of a movie star, an action star, a leading man.”
When news of Willis’ diagnosis first surfaced, Osment shared a moving statement on social media, emphasizing his deep respect and admiration for the Die Hard star. “It’s been difficult to find the right words for someone I’ve always looked up to—first on the big screen, and then by some wild stroke of luck, in person.”
“He’s a true legend who has enriched all of our lives with a singular career that spans nearly half a century. I am so grateful for what I got to witness firsthand, and for the enormous body of work he built for us to enjoy for years and years to come.”
The Sixth Sense: A Defining Moment for Both Actors
Osment and Willis first worked together on The Sixth Sense, a critically acclaimed supernatural thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The film, which follows a young boy (Osment) who communicates with spirits and a troubled psychologist (Willis) trying to help him, became an instant classic and one of the highest-grossing films of 1999.
Osment’s performance earned him an Academy Award nomination at just 11 years old, and the film cemented Willis’ reputation as a versatile actor beyond the action genre. Their on-screen dynamic was central to the film’s success, and Osment has frequently credited Willis for his kindness and mentorship during filming.

Bruce Willis’ Health Battle
In March 2022, Bruce Willis’ family announced that he was retiring from acting due to a diagnosis of aphasia, a condition affecting cognitive abilities, particularly speech and comprehension. In February 2023, they shared an update confirming that Willis had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progressive neurological disorder that impacts behavior, language, and motor functions.
Willis’ family, including his wife Emma Heming Willis, ex-wife Demi Moore, and daughters, have been open about his health journey, raising awareness for FTD and advocating for better understanding of the condition. Fans and colleagues from across the industry have expressed their support, celebrating the actor’s enduring legacy.
From iconic roles in Die Hard, Pulp Fiction, Armageddon, and Sin City, to heartfelt performances in films like The Sixth Sense, Willis’ contributions to cinema remain unparalleled. Osment’s recent words serve as a poignant reminder of the lasting impact that Willis has had on audiences and fellow actors alike.
