Madelaine Petsch has seen her fair share of horror on screen, but nothing could prepare her for the real-life terror of losing a tooth at Disneyland! While promoting The Strangers: Chapter 1, Madelaine sat down with The Movie Dweeb for an interview filled with laughs, horror stories (both real and fictional), and one very unfortunate theme park pickle incident.
A Disneyland Disaster: The Case of the Missing Tooth
After making a splash at WonderCon to discuss her latest horror venture, Madelaine decided to unwind at the happiest place on Earth—Disneyland in Anaheim. But things took an unexpected turn when she later posted on Instagram that she had lost a tooth at the park.
Of course, I had to get the scoop. How did it happen? Did Donald Duck punch her in the face?!
Madelaine, laughing, admitted, “I regret posting things like this on the internet. Jesus.” She quickly clarified, “I have an implant—a tooth implant—and it unscrewed.” And how did this dental mishap occur? “It popped out while I was eating a pickle at Disneyland.”
While this sounds like something out of a bizarre horror-comedy, Madelaine assured fans she wasn’t losing teeth left and right before hitting 30. In fact, she found it “disturbing” that people even thought that might be the case. But hey, when you’re a scream queen, people expect a little blood and gore—even if it’s dental-related.
Madelaine’s Horror Reign Continues with The Strangers: Chapter 1
In The Strangers: Chapter 1, Madelaine Petsch takes on the terrifying role of Maya, a woman whose seemingly perfect road trip with her boyfriend turns into a nightmare when they encounter a trio of masked strangers intent on tormenting them. A reboot of the cult classic 2008 horror film The Strangers, this new installment kicks off a full-blown trilogy, all of which Madelaine filmed back-to-back.

Shooting all three movies in one go was an intense experience, but Madelaine saw it as a “beautiful blessing.” She explained, “I didn’t have time to stop and reflect on how difficult the shoot was going to be, because I was also filming Riverdale at the same time.” The key to survival? Keep moving. “If you just keep me moving, I can keep going,” she said. “Honestly, the best way to calm down was to keep the train chugging.”
From Riverdale to Hollywood Royalty
Madelaine first stole our hearts (and, let’s be honest, intimidated us a little) as Cheryl Blossom in Riverdale. With her razor-sharp wit, striking red hair, and ability to deliver a perfectly timed one-liner, she quickly became a fan favorite. Since then, she’s expanded her resume with roles in psychological thrillers like Jane and, of course, her latest horror trilogy, proving she’s more than just a high school mean girl.
Whether she’s running from masked killers or dealing with unexpected dental disasters, one thing is clear—Madelaine Petsch knows how to keep things entertaining. And let’s hope her next trip to Disneyland is less horror and more happily-ever-after!
The Strangers: Chapter 1 is in cinemas 17 May from Lionsgate UK.
