I’ve been hosting The Movie Dweeb Podcast for a few weeks now; I’ve had the pleasure of sitting down with some of my nearest and dearest friends, as we joked about the world of cinema.
It was so, so idyllic. ‘Was’ being the operative word.
When radio presenter, Aimee Vivian, joined me, I thought it would be a bit of fun for her to rank entertainment’s most famous dogs in a tier list. She’s a huge dog-lover; I, obviously, love cinema. What could possibly go wrong?
I knew it was off to a bad start when Aimee ranked Wallace and Gromit’s titular dog in the second-to-last place. I mean, c’mon – Gromit is a graduate from Dogwarts University with a double first in Engineering for Dogs. (That’s a better degree than either Aimee or I will ever achieve.)

As we continued, her hideously hot-takes continued, as she put Toy Story’s Slinky-Dog above Gromit, because – and I quote – “he once hung out of a window.”
Imagine being the first dog to fly to the moon, ony to be beaten by a plastic canine because he leaned out of a window. I’d be furious.
From the best to the worst, Aimee’s ranking of iconic dogs were as follows:
- Marley, Marley & Me
- Dug, Up
- Slinky-Dog, Toy Story
- Gromit, Wallace and Gromit
- Toto, The Wizard of Oz
But not quite content with infuriating me with her list, Aimee also debated some of the biggest dilemmas when it came to going-to-the-cinema, where she said you’re perfectly fine to chomp on loud snacks during the cinema, and that it shouldn’t be frowned upon to continue a Netflix series without your partner.
I’d understand if you never spoke to either myself or Aimee ever again.

You can subscribe to The Movie Dweeb Podcast on YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. And if you do, next time, I’ll make sure that any and all conversations will be calm and collected, because my blood pressure’s through the roof.
