When you sit down with Maya Hawke, you never quite know what you’re going to get—but you can always count on some delightful chaos. While promoting Asteroid City, we inevitably veered into Stranger Things territory (because how could I not?). I asked Maya what I should be most excited about in the upcoming fifth season—without, of course, getting her into any NDA-related trouble.

Maya, with the poise of someone who has been through Netflix’s secrecy training, thought for a moment before offering a cryptic yet perfect tease: “I really don’t think I’m allowed to say anything but, uh, I suppose if you enjoyed my long rambling monologues in the earlier seasons, there will be more where that came from.”

So, there you have it. More Robin Buckley monologues incoming! Whether they’ll be about obscure historical facts, her love life, or sarcastic quips about the Upside Down remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure—Maya Hawke is ready to talk.

Asteroid City: Maya Hawke Meets Wes Anderson’s Whimsical Universe

Before we dive back into the Hawkins drama, let’s appreciate the sheer cinematic beauty that is Asteroid City. Directed by Wes Anderson, the film is a star-studded, pastel-colored love letter to 1950s Americana, set in a fictional desert town where a junior stargazer convention is interrupted by an out-of-this-world event.

Maya Hawke joins an all-star ensemble cast, featuring Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Edward Norton, and many more. She plays a teacher in the film, bringing her signature charm to Anderson’s meticulously crafted world.

If you’re familiar with Anderson’s work—The Grand Budapest HotelMoonrise KingdomThe French Dispatch—you’ll know to expect stunning visuals, deadpan humor, and an all-around magical experience. With Asteroid City, he delivers another quirky, heartwarming, and oddly existential masterpiece.

Stranger Things: The End of an Era

Back to Hawkins! Stranger Things has become a cultural phenomenon since its debut in 2016, blending ’80s nostalgia, sci-fi horror, and lovable characters into one of Netflix’s biggest hits. The upcoming fifth season will be the show’s last, promising an epic conclusion to the battle against the Upside Down.

Maya Hawke’s character, Robin Buckley, was introduced in Season 3 and quickly became a fan favorite with her sharp wit, awkward charm, and heartwarming friendship with Steve Harrington (Joe Keery). From cracking Russian codes to panicking about flirting with girls, Robin has brought some of the show’s best comedic and emotional moments.

While Netflix has kept the plot of Season 5 tightly under wraps, we know it will bring all the storylines to a close, with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), the gang, and probably too many government conspiracies to count. And, thanks to Maya, we now also know that Robin will continue to grace us with her signature monologues.

So, whether you’re excited for Asteroid CityStranger Things, or just Maya Hawke being Maya Hawke, one thing’s clear—she’s about to steal every scene she’s in. And let’s be honest, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
