For the first time in a very, very, very long time, I didn’t spend Valentine’s Day watching cat videos on YouTube, screaming and wailing into a cold Pot Noodle.

Instead, I went out for a meal, a few drinks and played tipsy Mario Kart with my other half. And, yes, I did win the race.

(I didn’t, but my girlfriend’s not here to argue it, so let’s just pretend I’m good at Mario Kart for now, okay?)

But if comedy legend, Jim Carrey, had any say in my plans on 14 February, I wouldn’t have eaten any food; I probably wouldn’t have had any cocktails; and I certainly wouldn’t have been hit by a blue shell repeatedly.

I caught up with the star of Sonic the Hedgehog, and simply asked him what I would get up to with his iconic character, the Grinch, would get up to on the date of the film’s release, Valentine’s Day.

Maybe it was a shameless attempt at getting him to do an impression of one of his most loved characters, so that I could go viral and become a star… Okay, it definitely was that, but I wasn’t expecting his response.

“Oh, I’d be all over you, man,” said the actor who plays antagonist, Dr. Robotnik. “This is getting sick now…

“I don’t like presents, but I would unwrap you in a heartbeat,” he continued. I should probably be alarmed that a 58-year-old man was undressing me with his eyes, but… He was in The Truman Show, so I just have to kinda let him, don’t I?

Before we did, however, consummate our relationship, I got to speaking to Jim about the possibility of him returning for the Sonic the Hedgehog sequel, given that he was the best part of the recent film.

Jim stated that he’d return to the role of Dr. Robotnik “in a heartbeat,” because he believes there is a lot more to see from his character.

He also spoke about the possibility of seeing more of the characters from the Sonic universe – including Tails, Knuckles and Amy – within the sequel.

I’d go into further detail about that, but:

A) I want you to watch it within the video above, so I can get plenty of views and, therefore, a pay-rise.

B) I need to make myself look pretty – Jim’s taken me out on a fancy date, and I don’t want to disappoint him.
