WATCH: Breathe. Okay, But… The First Trailer For The Last Jedi Is Here. And It’s So Beautiful

People complain about 2017, but it’s been a frickin’ wonderful year, hasn’t it? First, it was confirmed that McDonalds Monopoly was returning, and then we got the first official teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Sorry. It’s hard to type an article out and hug my computer screen at the same time.

Debuting at the The Last Jedi panel at Celebration 2017, we get a further glimpse at the continuation of Rey, Finn and Poe’s story. And there’s not even a Jar Jar Binks in sight. That’s

Much like its predecessor, The Force Awakens, instead of opening with John Boyega’s Finn all out of breath; this teaser trailer shows Rey (Daisy Ridley) gasping for air. Maybe the Jedi Council should have invested in inhalers before they started making glowing laser swords.

We also see Luke Skywalker continuing to train Rey; and this time I’m hoping Mark Hamill actually gets some lines, otherwise he’s just as good as those sign-language people you see in the bottom-right hard corner, when you’re caught watching QVC at 3:27AM. There are also snippets of Finn, who looks to be cryogenically frozen (possibly next to Star Wars’ latest owner, Walt Disney), Poe’s X-Wing gets blown up and – EFF YEAH – Captain Phasma returns.

Now I’m just waiting for that Gary Barlow cameo. If he doesn’t play an overly optimistic Stormtrooper that sings Take That’s Rule The World, I feel Lucasfilm have missed an opportunity.

And don’t even get me started on the poster, which director Rian Johnson and Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy premiered recently. Sigh. Back to the computer hugging.
