Picture this: a stormy London night, a packed cinema, and The Movie Dweeb introducing Send Help stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien by declaring he needs to “send help” myself, at LADbible’s special screening. From there, chaos reigned—in the best way possible.

Dylan kicked things off by professing genuine admiration for Castaway’s Wilson the volleyball, calling it “one of my favourite performances in cinematic history” with such sincerity, it teetered between emotional and unhinged. Not to be outdone, Rachel quipped that fake blood in her face meant she officially “made it” as an actor under the Sam Raimi school of gore.

The limp saga took centre stage soon after, with Dylan confessing that his main character prep wasn’t a deep dive into trauma or survival instincts… It was perfecting his limp. “I guess my limp… Yeah. Long story short: limps,” he said, after detailing how director Sam Raimi would check in daily to critique his hobble. “Everyone was obsessed with it,” he added, like a man who still hears phantom notes about his gait.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Raimi film without a bucket of blood. Rachel described the surprisingly intense concentration Sam puts into splattering his cast: “He gets in his stance… You can’t even talk to him.” Dylan confirmed, “He’s got an arm on him. All that baseball.”

Rachel McAdams Is Game for More Gore

Midway through the Q&A, I snuck in a big one: would Rachel McAdams consider returning for a sequel? Her answer: a surprisingly casual “Might do another one,” which sent murmurs through the crowd like a horror-themed Mexican wave.

She reflected on why this film, unlike other scripts she’s abandoned halfway through, kept her onboard: “I’ve never been able to do horror because I bail halfway through. But this one? It was just fun.” Fun, of course, meaning ‘being emotionally destroyed on a remote island with Dylan O’Brien and a stick.’

As for Dylan, he didn’t quite confirm his return, but given the depth of his bond with his wooden prop companion, it wouldn’t be a surprise if his contract has a ‘must reunite with stick’ clause.

What Is Send Help, Exactly?

Directed by Sam Raimi in his most unhinged, blood-splattered form since Drag Me to HellSend Help is a psychological island horror with teeth… Literally. It strands two unlikely survivors (McAdams and O’Brien) on a remote beach where the monsters aren’t just in their heads, but potentially in the bushes.

The film leans hard into practical effects and claustrophobic tension. McAdams, stepping fully into her scream queen era, delivers a fierce, frenetic performance that sees her go from tear-streaked victim to machete-wielding maniac. O’Brien, meanwhile, plays the limping, emotionally unraveling counterbalance… A kind of millennial Jack from Lord of the Flies, but with better hair.

Critics have already called it a high-octane, blood-drenched descent into island madness and Sam Raimi’s most bonkers film in years. And yes, the record-breaking amount of fake blood used during production only adds to the lore.
