I can’t believe I’m writing this, but my mate – who’s a human, by the way – fancies an animated fox.
There. I said it.
Alice Johnson joined me on The Movie Dweeb Podcast to discuss all of the latest announcements from this year’s D23 Expo. You’d be forgiven for assuming we’d carefully dissect the news, and articulately discuss Disney’s upcoming sequels and plans for their theme parks.
We didn’t do that. Oh, no. The Movie Dweeb Podcast is not a place for quick witticisms. It’s a place to confess that you fancy Nick Wilde from Zootopia. Isn’t that right, Alice?
After we spoke briefly about Zootopia 2 – which is set to star newcomer to the franchise, Ke Huy Quan – Alice declared that Nicke Wilde (played by Jason Bateman) was her ‘Hear Me Out’.
(And to my mum, who is inevitably reading this right now, scratching her head in sheer confusion; ‘Hear Me Out’ is a phrase used in some internet sub-cultures to justify a “taboo” attraction – a traditionally unattractive character, an insanely evil character, or even simply a character that’s an anthropomorphic animal. You’re welcome.)
“It’s the voice. What can I say?” admitted Alice, before delving deeper and saying Nick’s eyes were “quite cute.”
Sure, I suppose I can agree that Jason Bateman’s voice is quite attractive, and Disney are known for the way the animate cute-looking creatures, especially with their expressive eyes. Maybe – maybe Alice is on to something here?
Alice then said, “If I was an animal, I would.” So, maybe Alice isn’t on to something here.
I then managed to surprise the cosplayer with a message from Flash (voiced by Raymond S. Persi) who said he was willing to pass on Nick’s number, and give it to Alice, if she was willing to wait in line at the DMV.
Of course, I’m not innocent in all of this. Sure, I can roast Alice for her love of Nick Wilde as much as I like; this is my site, after all, but I must also confess… I kind of have a thing for Sally from Cars.
I suppose, in a weird way, Alice’s may be better? Like, Nick is a living, breathing creature; I want to cop off with a Porsche 911 Carrera. But that tattoo of hers just gets me going.
