I like Twitter. If there’s a place where I can tell someone that I am hungry for a Subway in 280 characters, then I want to be there. #HeartyItalian
I also like films. If I didn’t, then I’d have really wasted a lot of time, effort and money in creating The Movie Dweeb, wouldn’t I?
And yet, Film Twitter is probably one of the worst, most toxic places to be. If a woman’s cast in, well, any movie, Film Twitter will be irate. I saw people (who’s avatars were, naturally, eggs) rooting for the role of Wonder Woman to be played by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson instead of Gal Gadot, for crying out loud.
Don’t even get me started on Star Wars and Twitter. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus Christ.
Occasionally, however, Film Twitter will be slightly more positive, and give you the idea for an interview question. That’s right – if you write it on social media, I will probably ask it to an A-list celebrity. I’m very much the British Ron Burgundy, but without the facial hair. No matter how hard I try.
I saw several posts, from fans, asking for Tom Holland to portray Flynn Rider in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Tangled. I don’t necessarily see the casting myself, but…
So, as I caught up with a rather distracted Tom Holland – he was very keen on watching the rugby – about his new Pixar film, Onward, I wanted to see if he would be keen on appearing in yet another Disney film, Tangled.
“Probably not, no. I really like that film, y’know? There’s a lot of these live-action versions of animated films that I loved as a kid and I’m like ‘I don’t know if I need them’,” said the Spider-Man star.
He did, however, jokingly state that he’d be up for playing Rapunzel, and I kind of feel like I may have just inadvertently impregnated every Hollander on the planet with that response.
I know you’re reading this, Disney – I don’t think there was a day that went by where Bob Iger didn’t refresh this website – I’ll settle for Tom Holland as Rapunzel, but I’ll pay you to cast him as Milos Thatch in Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
I’m sure Disney will take me up on that. They definitely need the money.
