Josh Gad Refuses Live-Action Phil Role, In Favour Of Danny DeVito

I sincerely hope you’re not reading this, Josh, because if you are, prepare for your feelings to get hurt.

Honestly, I don’t think a Disney movie starring Josh Gad would work. Said film certainly wouldn’t become the highest grossing musical film, nor would it become the all-time best-selling Blu-ray Disc in the United States, nor would it win two Academy Awards. End of.

Which is why I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw Josh Gad had publicly turned down the role of Philoctetes in Disney’s upcoming Hercules live-action adaptation.

Josh Gad has become almost as iconic to Disney fans as that little rodent fella; you know, the one with the round ears and the cute red shorts. I can never remember his name.

Recently, Josh Gad announced he would be reprising his Beauty and the Beast role of LeFou, alongside Luke Evans, in Disney+’s prequel series. Gad has also been winning awards for his role of Olaf in Frozen II.

However, Josh has declared to his 533.3k Twitter followers that he does not want the role of Phil, and that there is only one person who should have it; “Lol. No. No. No. I will not be playing Phil. There is only one man who should be playing Phil and his name is [Danny DeVito]”.

This wouldn’t be the first time an actor has returned for one of Disney’s live-action adaptations, after James Earl Jones voiced Mufasa in both renditions of The Lion King. Y’know? The good one and the bad one.

All I’m saying is that Josh is right – he should not star in a Disney film. The only way it could possibly get worse is if he portrayed a snowman; like a really naive, comical snowman. WHO THE HELL WOULD WANNA SEE THAT CRAP?
