There are a few things in this world that I need. I need the COVID-19 vaccination. I need clean water. I need a roof over my head.

There’s one thing in this world that I don’t particularly need. I don’t particularly need a Willy Wonka prequel musical starring Timothée Chalamet.

thing And yet, while I still wait for my second dose of AstraZeneca, I am being bombarded with the news that the Little Women star is set to play the titular character in a musical.

Open the door and let that sink in.

I’m not against the idea of this; the news has only just been confirmed, so until I see some promotional material; maybe some behind-the-scenes photographs, or even a trailer, I will hold off my judgement.

Twitter, on the other hand – JESUS. That’s a whole different matter, isn’t it? Social media’s done what it does best, and has gone in on Timothée and his perfectly chiselled jawline.

I can already picture the trailer; Timothée Chalamet's gloved hand appears from a black screen, as Ellie Goulding sings a slow, dramatic rendition of The Oompa Loompa Song.
